Job Summary

Australia has embarked on an exciting and strategically important program for the nation to build and deliver a new regionally superior submarine, whilst sustaining and modernising our current Collins Class submarines. AECOM is a valued team member that for over 40 years has been providing superior above-the-line professional support services for submarine programs for Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. We are seeking a Senior Survivability Engineer to join our above the line team in order to expand our offerings to the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA)

We are seeking expressions of interest to work with AECOM on a secondment to our key client on a rolling contractual basis. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support the Survivability Manager in the progress and delivery of a broad range of activities associated with stealth and operational effectiveness

  • Coordinate and lead the work of a small team of specialists within the department

  • Manage the support provided by external organisations and assist in the delivery of outcomes to key stakeholders in Defence.

  • Spearhead the need for organisation, communication and leadership of the department

  • Demonstrate the ability to operate effectively in a high pressure environment and deliver to deadlines

Minimum Requirements

  • A minimum of Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) clearance will be required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical and operational issues to junior members of staff

  • Bachelor degree in a relevant technical discipline (e.g. Mechanical/Electrical engineering, Naval Architecture or Physics)

  • Chartered membership desirable

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in submarine signatures or equivalent experience of submarine options

  • Show initiative and be able to work with minimum supervision
