Schneider Electric Electromechanical Design Engineer - FTC in Adelaide Gepps Cross, Australia

12 Month Fixed Term Contract.

Joining a team of talented Mechanical Engineers in our Wiring Devices business you will support electrical products under the Clipsal and PDL brands in Australia and New Zealand.

Reporting to the Electromechanical Design Team Leader,you will be responsible fordeveloping anumber of products within the Offer Creation Process ensuring your designs are safe, reliable and cost competitive.

This will include investigating, planning, managing, documenting and implementing designs for products in the Pacific Wiring Device and Final Distribution offers.

Engaging in a complete product design process you will:

  • Maintain engineering drawings and associated documentation for the entire product lifecycle, including 2D & 3D CAD files, BOM’s, packaging and instructions;

  • Accurately prepare and complete detailed product designs;

  • Identify and resolve design issues through collaboration with the project team;

  • Perform tolerance path analysis and interference checking of design;

  • Maintain an awareness of cost implications of the design;

  • Utilise the FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis) process to identify risks associated with the desired design;

  • Demonstrate ownership and integrity of technical decisions;

  • Participate in cross functional team design reviews including design for manufacturing/ assembly.

Required skills and experience:

  • Degree qualifications in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering;

  • Experience with and understanding of manufacturing environments;

  • Demonstrated experience developing and/or adapting electromechanical products;

  • Ability to plan, monitor and control individual design projects and activities;
  • Understanding of technical and manufacturing objectives and constraints;
  • Proven track record of internal and external customer service;
  • Able to demonstrate a personal sense of urgency and focus within a project environment;
  • Proven experience using Pro/Engineer design software in a commercial environment.
