Position Overview

The Youth Group Facilitator will deliver small group sessions on employability skills and intensive job search to Participants in Smart Skilled and Hired Youth Employment Program. The Youth Group Facilitators are highly skilled at building group dynamics. The role will encourage supportive group behaviours and attitudes to influence and motivate Participants towards employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver small group sessions on employability skills and intensive job searching with the view to gaining employment during the course of the program

  • Develop confidence building and employment pathway creation for youth

  • Prepare and deliver motivating sessions to unemployed or underemployed Youth in a variety of settings

  • Develop and conduct workshops that build employability and life skills of youth participants in both group and individual sessions as required

  • Liaise with service delivery partners and other services to assist in increasing Participants employability skills.

  • Provide expert advice on job search practices and conduct job search activities as part of the group sessions

  • Provide mentoring and support in activities to lead to employment and post-employment

  • Conduct appropriate and regular follow up activities with clients

  • Provide relevant client case comments in line with minimum contractual requirements

  • Conduct administrative activities as required by the Smart Skilled and Hired Contract Manager under the contractual and legislative requirements

  • Perform other duties as required by the Business Manager to meet the immediate business needs

  • Comply with all WHS procedures ensuring that team members including volunteers and contractors abide by all relevant health and safety procedures

  • Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours and report all accidents, incidents or near misses immediately.

  • High level literacy skills

  • Organised with exceptional time management skills

  • Proven knowledge regarding local industry and labour markets and service providers

  • Demonstrated ability working with diverse client groups in group settings

  • Outstanding verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge to job search across different industries and sectors including the use of the internet and social media to connect job seekers with prospective employers.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in group facilitation and/or leadership roles desirable

  • Demonstrated job search knowledge and experience across various industries and sectors is essential

  • Experience working with youth is an advantage

  • An understanding of social media and its different platforms and the application of practical solutions for privacy and profile/branding management

Qualifications

  • Hold a current driving licence

  • Hold a current Working with Children Check (or equivalent)

  • Participation in professional development and training as required.
