Jacobs is the lead contractor providing EPCM services for the Oyu Tolgoi Underground Project in Mongolia. This contract scope includes surface and underground infrastructure works and will see us leading the way for over 6 years to deliver this project successfully and safely.
We are currently seeking experienced Package Engineers for Shaft Packages. Based in Brisbane city, we are looking for motivated, organised, self-starters with proven experience in their discipline. The duration of the roles will be for approximately until the end of 2017 with a possibility of the role moving to Oyu Tolgoi site in Mongolia on a 4/2 roster.
Preference will be given to experienced locally based contractors. There is no planned travel requirement for the positions, however given this is a global project spanning several countries, there may be an opportunity to travel.
The purpose of this role is to provide technical support during all project phases to ensure that project designs meet operational requirements and specified engineering standards.
Knowledge and responsibilities include:
Planning specific project activities, tasks and end results including setting the scheduling for completing the works and budgeting
Assisting with project co-ordination (between process engineering, drawing office, site, QA/QC, vendors etc)
Identifying the requirements for engineering input into specific procurement and construction contract packages
Monitoring progress and report on assigned area of work
Scope control and trending of scope changes
Scope communication to the Engineering Manager
Assisting development control of the schedule for their facilities
Setting dates for engineering deliverables needed for the assigned area
Tracking trends of estimated quantities for their facilities and evaluate scope and schedule impacts
Identifying and referring potential problems to the Engineering Manager
Development of contract scope of work, schedule requirements, and pay items definition for area contracts
Co-ordinating the technical reviews of all construction contract packages
Organising the procurement of equipment, vendor packages, sub contractors and suppliers
Tender evaluation and adjudication including bid clarification
Contract award negotiation and kick-off meetings
Evaluating contractor claims (supported by contract group)
Managing selected sub-consultants
Ensuring compliance with quality standards in all tasks
Providing information for Quality and other audits
Only degree qualified engineers will be considered for this position. Experience in a similar role working on a major EPCM Underground mining project with hoists will be key to success in this role. To be considered you must be a citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa to work in Australia.
