Red Hat's Engineering Operations team is looking for a Senior System Administrator to work as part of a global team in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific (APAC) regions. In this role, you will serve as an escalation point for the Front Line Support team by investigating, communicating, and troubleshooting all escalated issues. You’ll monitor systems and offerings on a daily basis to ensure they are performing as expected while maintaining datacenter environmental systems and disaster recovery, monitoring, and alerting systems. As a Senior System Administrator, you will also document internal processes and procedures related to system administration.
Primary job responsibilities
Collaborate with team members to determine the root cause of problems and the best course of action to resolve them
Contribute to the design and development of the business continuity plan
Plan and implement regular maintenance for assigned systems to minimize downtime
Follow established operation service-level agreements (SLAs) by collaborating with end users to establish expectations and time frames for problem resolution
Coach, share knowledge, and serve as a mentor to other junior staff
Participate as a member of an on-call rotation to support multiple systems during off-hours
Work evenings and weekends as required
8+ years of relevant working experience
Experience working as part of a global team
Good experience with UNIX or Linux; Linux certifications are a plus
Solid knowledge and experience with cloud computing
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to listen and question
Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required
Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language to non-technical staff and end users
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to take initiative and effectively prioritize and carry out tasks in a high-pressure environment
Application and process support experience in a 24/7 environment
Willingness to work flexible hours
