IBM EOI - Client Technical Specialist in FORREST, Australia

IBM Systems Lab Services and Training exists to provide IBM’s clients with successful implementations of new and emerging technologies and to accelerate return on investment (ROI) and satisfaction with STG solutions.Systems Lab Services and Training in Australia has an open role for a Client Technical Specialist - Power with a primary focus on designing and implementing complex infrastructure solutions involving Power systems. This role may require working from various IBM and client locations as required. Business and Technical Responsibilities:

  • Implement infrastructure solutions involving Power Systems; set-up HMC, LPARs, NIM, backups, VIOS’, monitoring, etc.

  • Perform Proof of Concept (PoC) activities for client projects and new technology demonstrations (hands-on)

  • Perform quality assurance on proposals, statements of work and design documentation

  • Develop installation plans and manage the implementation of small projects

  • Develop design, implementation documentation of solutions

  • Harvest useful ICAP from projects

  • Perform adhoc BAU system administration tasks occasionally

  • Working within project management methodology as it relates to the delivery of technology; planning, implementation, configuration, testing and skills transfer

  • Presenting solutions to customers, business partners or IBM stakeholders

  • Providing consultative advice on the latest technology developments within IBM

  • Running classroom based technical content or courses as required for the purposes of enabling business partners or providing skills transfer to customers

Key Skill Requirements: The ideal candidate for this role will have a good foundation in server, storage and networking technologies, including knowledge/experience in:

  • LINUX & AIX (installing/configuring and migrating predominately using NIM)

  • LPARs (being managed by HMC or IVM and understanding LPAR profiling)

  • PowerVC and Cloud Orchestration

  • Virtual I/O (mainly NPIV, vSCSI and SEA)

  • PowerHA (mainly two node clusters with basic resource group configuration)

  • LDAP/Windows ADS

  • SAN (Fibre Channel/SAS direct attached and iSCSI) and Storage (Midrange subsystems and NAS)

  • Shell Scripting/Perl

  • Networking (basic IP Schema, routing, DNS, NTP knowledge)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent technical hands-on implementation experience

  • Excellent problem determination and troubleshooting skills

  • Experience architecting and designing integrated solutions

  • Tertiary qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in IBM’s suite of storage technology and offerings
