The Employment Consultant is responsible for ensuring efficient and effective management of a Job Centre at the Borallon Training and Correctional Centre (BTCC). You will be required to work in cooperation with Queensland Correctional Centre staff, other MAX Solutions staff and all other service providers engaged in the delivery of services at the BTCC to ensure integrated and collaborative service delivery. You will work closely with Reintegration Specialists responsible for coordinating prisoners’ participation in services and supports.

Support for prisoners

• Facilitate and manage group job preparation activities which may include developing a resume, developing and practicing interview and presentation skills, developing effective job search techniques

• Provide guidance to prisoners on access to information about effective job search and preparation activities and resume development

• Provide advice on employment services available post-release to support a smooth transition to independent living

Support for Employers

• Identify and provide advice to job and work experience providers within BTCC

• Maintain a BTCC Jobs Board

• Assist BTCC employers to develop role descriptions and advertise jobs

• Assist BTCC employers with shortlisting candidates for jobs

• Provide general advice and support in relation to employment support


• Liaise with other BTCC and external service providers as appropriate

• Participate in case coordination and other meetings

• Ensure all KPIs are met

• Conduct administrative activities consistent with contractual and legislative requirements, and MAX Solutions philosophy and quality standards

• Participate in professional development and training as required

• Any other duties as directed

Required Experience

• Experience working with prisoners and in a custodial environment

• Experience in delivering efficient and effective strategies to positively engage with employers and build sustainable relationships

• Experience in delivering efficient and effective strategies to engage and motivate disengaged clients

• Experience working with disadvantaged clients who have special needs, such as people with a disability, people from diverse cultural and language backgrounds, people with drug and alcohol dependency, or people who have experienced homelessness, domestic violence or psychological disorders

• Experience in interviewing and assessments would be advantageous


• Hold or have the ability to obtain a current Working with Children Check (or equivalent)

• Ability to undertake a Certificate IV Employment Services

• Participation in professional development and training as required
