The Employer Service Consultant is responsible for ensuring efficient and effective delivery of assistance and advice to job seekers who are eligible for Employment Services and assist job seekers to identify and achieve their employment/educational requirements. You will also be required to identify gaps and blocks in potential outcomes and work through an activity plan and assess any underlying vulnerabilities that may be presented

  • Manage active vacancies generated by either the Account Manager or via direct employer listing

  • Maintain vacancy status as current and up to date at all times

  • Liaise with Vacancy Champions in relevant MAX Employment sites to ensure timely and appropriate candidate identification and selection for shortlisting

  • Undertake an effective screening process by understanding the vacancy requirements and matching the most suitable job seekers by reviewing the job seekers ‘person job fit’ profile, resume, experience and overall suitability to the vacancy

  • Create a shortlist once the screening process has been completed by reviewing all referrals and applications to the open vacancies to secure a suitable shortlist for presentation to the employer

  • Liaise with the shortlisted job seekers to ensure suitability to the vacancy prior to referring to the Employer

  • Provide selected shortlisted job seekers (including candidate overview as required) to the employer and updating relevant stake holders (Account Manager, Vacancy Champion, EBC Manager)

  • Liaise with the employer to secure interview schedule for the referred job seekers and in turn advise the job seekers of the interview time and overview of the process as required

  • Once the interviews have taken place follow up with both the employer and the job seeker for outcome

  • Advise the job seekers and associated stakeholders as above of the outcome including interview feedback available

  • Manage all administration associated with the vacancy within MAX-CONNECT, ESS and Sales Force

  • Manage the JPC Hours collection documentation and ETIP documentation liaising with the Account Managers to secure the relevant signatures within the required timeline. (Note this will no longer be required once transition in to the new contract 1st July 2015 has been actioned)

  • Advise the Account Manager of PPS requirements ensuring the 1st day visit and subsequent 2nd and 3rd visit are actioned in the Account Managers diary

  • The vacancy action timeline should be within guidelines and KPIs

  • Participate in professional development and training as required

  • Participate in MAX Employment meetings and functions as required

  • Communicate with job seekers in a professional manner as per MAX Employment quality standards

  • Ensure all job seeker documents and expenditure is correctly recorded in Docushare

  • Liaise with external providers as required to ensure effective collaboration is undertaken

  • Any other duties as directed

  • Working with a caseload of job seekers to set and achieve their employment/educational goals

  • Sourcing appropriate health and training solutions to address vulnerabilities to employment

  • Establishing and developing ongoing relationships with industry contacts and employers

  • Advocating to employers and generating new business leads, placing job seekers into sustainable employment opportunities

Required Experience

  • Proven experience in interview, job matching, assessment procedures

  • Experience working with special needs job seekers groups such as people with a disability, non-English speaking background, drug and alcohol dependency, homelessness, domestic violence and psychological disorders is desirable

  • Having worked with the Department of Employment systems such as ESS is desirable

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including Anti-discrimination, Equal Employment Opportunity, Occupational Health and Safety, Privacy and Freedom of Information


  • Hold or have the ability to obtain a current Working with Children Check (or equivalent)

  • Hold a current driving licence

  • Ability to undertake a Certificate IV Employment Services

  • Participation in professional development and training as required
