Position Purpose

To provide short term to medium term planning schedules that generate vale for the business. Operations schedulers will employ the inputs from commercial team, planners, asset managers, customer’s firm and forecasted demand plus supplier relationships to generate an executable short to medium term operations plan. The operations plans will meet the key metric for the business in regards to assets utilization, customer service and cost to serve. In addition the role will require oversight of the commodity ordering, ticket application, invoicing and contract reconciliation in eka.

Responsibilities

Planning

  • In collaboration with commercial team, marketing team and planners, develop operation plan to improve business efficiency and develop customer solutions that generate value for Cargill.

  • Planning functions include:

Short Term Panning

  • Responsible for creating valid daily schedules for the crush or grains business, for the coming 2-4 weeks by daily buckets utilizing the inputs from inventory levels, customer orders, delivery plans, sales forecast and mid-term planning.

  • Relay weekly short term plans to internal stake holders (and external where appropriate) so the operations plan can be executed.

Mid-term Detail Planning

  • Responsible for developing a rolling mid-term supply plan of capacity/material requirements/inventory, on a weekly frequency, for coming 3 months by weekly buckets, through analyzing/matching detail demand plan and coordinating/validating with local supply chain points.

Support Role in Supply Review

  • Provides input and support to Grain / Crush Planners in review of operations plan (planned verses actual).

Asset Management

  • In collaboration with assets managers, maximize the operational effectives of Cargill’s assets. This includes and is not limited to: Crush plants, Grainflow sites, rail assets, take or pay agreements.

Customer firm demand and forecasts

  • Work with customers to understand firm demand the drawdown schedules and in collaboration with sales and marketing team, understand customer open demand.

  • Employee this information in developing an operations plan.

Supplier Management

Work with our suppliers (BHC’s, Private stores, growers and carriers) to understand their capacity constraints in the short and medium term

Share (where appropriate) Cargill’s capacity requirement or constraints in the short to medium term

Execution of operations plans

  • Collaborate with the relevant Logistics Coordinators – Customer person to ensure the short term operations plan is executed as directed.

  • Support Logistics Coordinators – Customers with in nominating correct customer contracts, allocated inventory, carriers (and rates) and ensure orders are entered into eka and distributed within our internal metrics

  • Accountable for open orders, invoice accuracy and ticket errors.

Initiate RCA meetings in response to plant or customer stock outs.

Leadership

  • Demonstrate commitment to team work both within and external to the Risk Management/Commercial area/ FSS and within supply chain.

Mandatory

  • As the BU grows, complete any other duties as required by the company.

  • Participate in business excellence, integration and/or other project-related initiatives.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • University Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Commerce, Business, Agriculture or Economics.

  • Qualification in Logistics, Agribusiness or a related industry experience.

  • Min. 2 years operational experience in production planning, logistics, operations preferably in a agribusiness environment gaining:

  • Knowledge of customer delivery systems and requirements;

  • Knowledge of manufacturing plant and warehouse receipt and outturn systems

  • General grain, oilseed and vegetable protein product commodity knowledge and knowledge of trade flows, freight and bulk handling systems.
