Position Title Principal Structural Engineer

Job Summary

This role is focused on the delivery of structural design for transportation projects. As a senior member of Civil Infrastructure Structures Bridges team (VICT, NSW, SA) you will provide technical solutions to clients and also technical guidance for junior team members. In this role there will also be a focus on not only delivering client excellence, but also winning more work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As Principal Structural Engineer, effectively control commercial, managerial and technical aspects of the project or the part of the project you are responsible for.

  • Assist the Directors with their team management responsibilities.

  • Ensure effective communication of business issues to all staff reporting to you.

  • Understand and implement the Company's strategy relating to customers (repeat business).

  • Awareness of marketing opportunities and the capability of the business as a whole.

  • Principals provide mentoring and career development for team members.

Minimum Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects and meeting delivery requirements

  • Experience working for a Consultancy in similar disciplines and in successfully leading project teams

  • Ability to communicate at all levels using appropriate and effective oral and written communications skills

  • Demonstrated time and quality management and organisational skills

  • Timeliness and accuracy of completing tasks and delivering

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, solid business development skills and the ability to build strong client relationships

  • A strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven team environment and develop other team members

  • Effective collaboration, degree and level of input and professional assistance given to key contacts including all staff and suppliers

  • Ability to work autonomously and take responsibility for quality of deliverables and meeting deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering acceptable for membership of Engineers Australia

  • 10 years relevant professional experience

  • Successful track record in Transportation structures and substantial project experience, including design and asset management

  • Registered Professional Engineer Queensland

  • Knowledge of the market for consulting services

  • CPEng desirable
