Job Summary

The role of Senior Environmental Planner project manages and directs professional and technical staff on complex, large scale environmental approvals projects to provide successful and high quality outcomes for our clients. Utilising your strong understanding of the Victorian planning and approvals processes, the role provides technical leadership based on significant experience in the Victorian Statutory planning system, impact assessment and stakeholder management.

The role includes developing and enhancing relationships, and regular liaison with clients and winning work. The successful candidate will have existing client relationships in a number of sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects including preparation and supervision of all deliverables and resources to meet contract requirements in line with project plan

  • Maximise efficiencies through active management and scheduling of staff and project resources to ensure on time and on budget delivery

  • Undertake sections of multi-faceted projects in collaboration with senior staff or sub-consultants

  • Provide technical expertise to resolve clients / project requirements and ensure maintenance of high technical standards

  • Prepare reports, proposals, tender documents and correspondence

  • Undertake project invoicing and cash flow management

  • Develop and implement strategies for business growth

  • Undertake peer review of technical and editorial content of deliverables

  • Undertake ad hoc project related tasks as required which may include; studies and assessments, data analysis, technical writing, presentations, and legislation research

  • Develop and maintain positive relationship with clients to enhance client retention and growth

  • Effectively communicate in a professional manner with other project staff including subcontractors, suppliers, clients and the community to enhance working relationships and outcomes

  • Receive general instruction on project tasks and undertake training for standard procedures

  • Mentoring and developing junior staff

Minimum Requirements

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification (Statutory Planning, Environmental Planning, or similar)

  • Detailed level of knowledge and application of the Victorian planning legislation

  • 5-8 years relevant statutory planning experience. Knowledge of and previous experience in the impact assessment would be beneficial

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen

  • Proven results in client relationships and business development skills

  • Effective collaboration, organisation, negotiation and teaming skills

  • Demonstrated experience in managing multi-disciplinary projects and meeting project goals and deliverables in a timely and profitable manner

  • Strong oral and written communication skills; report writing, development of proposals

  • Experience in successfully leading project teams
