IBM Global Procurement is part of the Transformation and Operations team, responsible for acquiring goods and services efficiently and effectively for IBM internal use and external stakeholder accounts. The open role, a Software Commodity Team Leader/Sourcing Buyer position, is for an Advisory Procurement Professional responsible for Strategic Sourcing in the A/NZ region.Position Summary and ResponsibilitiesIn this key position you will procure goods and services, develop proposals and/or negotiate contracts of high risk and complexity consistent with customer requirements. You will develop and/or manage proposals, contracts and/or programs involving highly complex, high risk goods and services. Work with functional and executive management to ensure early procurement/contracts involvement in developing strategic plans. Assess, generate and implement long and short range plans that support current and future business objectives of multiple business units and/or geographies.This role will see you assume a leadership role within IBM's procurement team. Interfacing with suppliers on issues that affect supplier operations and IBM strategic supply issues. Develop and implement supply chain initiatives that provide end-to-end integrated opportunities for efficiency.You will be a Procurement professional with a minimum 5+ years Procurement background at an enterprise level with strong skills in developing Commodity Management strategies and managing competitive tenders and successfully negotiating outcomes.You will have highly developed influencing skills and stakeholder management skills with demonstrated experience managing commercial relationships with suppliers and driving performances along with proven ability working in a highly process driven environment. You will possess excellent high level written and verbal communication and presentation skills and strong customer service mentality.In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience and capabilities:
Develop, deliver and lead sourcing and vendor management strategies
Lead cross function project teams where required
Provide forecast savings (and actuals where required)
Lead drafting of tender documentation
Lead negotiations and drafting of agreements
Perform analysis and recognise patterns in data to initiate incremental improvements and solutions to existing processes, products and systems in own area
Provide quality advice to the client based on technical knowledge
Escalate unanticipated variations for approval
Recommend step improvements in own area and between areas, including awareness of best practice
The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with client, peer groups, stakeholders will be the key to success in this role.
In-depth advanced knowledge of business principles such as purchasing, supply chain, e-commerce (or e-procurement), business and contract law, finance and accounting.
Extensive experience in procurement and related functions with particular emphasis on negotiation and contract administration in addition to knowledge of integrated supply chain cost management.
Requires current knowledge in software commodity
Knowledge is used to solve moderately complex technical problems, develop broad business processes, conduct in-depth analysis and develop detailed business plans with minimal management supervision.
