The Boeing Company Government Relations Specialist in New South Wales, Australia

Job Summary

As a Government Relations Specialist this position plays a critical role in supporting the company’s strategy and business plans in Australia; by assisting in the continuation of strong engagement with government, peak industry bodies and other key stakeholders to enable communication and effectively influence of policy areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain awareness of the political environment in Australia and across the states, particularly those states with significant Boeing presence or interests;

  • Assist in the implementation of the Australia country strategy and business units initiatives, working with the country team and the Boeing Business Units;

  • Maintain close market monitoring, analysis, customer understanding, market trends and future requirements, monitoring competitors, industries and customer activities and strategies, and evaluate potential implications for the Boeing business interests;

  • Develop and maintain relations with government officials, both independently and as a member of the team, to:

    o build stable contacts and develop positive Boeing perception among key stakeholders;

    o provide high value intel on political dynamics of interest to Boeing;

    o monitor legislative, regulatory and political activities in areas of interest;

  • Assist the Country VP and senior Boeing executives in gaining access to key, top-level leaders, and accompany them in meetings with government officials and business leaders. Coordinate visits and briefings for company leaders within the Country;

  • Provide assistance for key Boeing Business Units and Executives in understanding Australian political processes and current political issues, and likely or possible future implications of political developments;

  • Identify critical local stakeholders, target audiences and support with key message development and deployment strategies.

  • Establish and maintaining the presence and reputation of the Boeing Company by building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, potential partners, government, business, media, community and other leaders in the country;

  • Maintains relationships with executives and internal subject matter experts by networking and understanding the business plans and processes of the operating group and the overall company position in order to provide government relations guidance and incorporate operating group requirements;

  • Coordinating Company events, as required, with government and industry partners;

  • Represent Boeing Government Relations as the focal for issues related to the company by advising and/or providing information to government officials (e.g. local, state and Federal) regarding the impact of government's activity;

  • Acts as focal for lobbying activities;

  • Builds grassroots advocacy coalitions by canvassing and assembling constituent groups providing information on topics of mutual interest, educate constituent groups on lobbying and influence techniques, and establish and maintain communication networks in order to expand and strengthen the company’s sphere of influence;

    Criteria

  • 5 years of relevant working experience preferably with a multinational company.

  • Relevant Bachelors’ Degree preferred

  • Positive and solution oriented attitude as well as a proven ability to work collaborative and constructively as member of a team.

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Australian political, economic and business environment, with a strong network of business contacts.

  • Demonstrated strong business analysis skills as well as financial and legal acumen.

  • Excellent cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational skills, excellent judgment, discretion.
