To perform a management accounting function, providing financial advice and support to a designated Sector/Geography of the business. To carry out other duties to assist with the management and smooth running of the Finance team and general financial activities of the firm.
Liaison with Sector, Business and Group leadership as designated by the CFO.
Answer queries from and provide assistance to internal clients.
Preparation and review of accounting centre and group financial reports.
Working with the business to prepare annual business plans and short term forecasts.
Training and commercial education of internal clients on financial terms and systems.
Preparation of monthly reports.
Reviewing project forecasts and actual and reporting on variances.
Processing of monthly journals
Ad hoc reporting as directed.
Assist as required in the preparation of the year end statutory accounts, for example, project reviews and work in progress.
Assist as required with other ad hoc statutory reporting requirements as directed by the Statutory Accountant.
Systems and Processes
Assist with the defining and development of systems, processes and controls to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the Australasia Finance Team.
Testing, rollout and training of any systems, upgrades and new introductions.
Regular review of intranet content relating to Finance ensuring it is kept up to date.
Attend (via video/teleconference where appropriate) and represent Australasia finance at meetings as directed. Competencies

Responsible for monitoring budgets and controlling expenditure to meet financial targets for own areas.

Represents Arup/the group/office/ discipline/profession internally and externally
Authors official documents e.g. letters and reports (for internal or external use)
Responsible for the performance and development of others, providing guidance, training, motivational and directional feedback.
Technical Skills and Qualifications
Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance or similar area; working towards or already achieved a professional accounting qualification;
Relevant industry experience in a professional services/consulting business environment would be advantageous;
At least 3 years’ experience in a similar accounting role;
Intermediate level in Microsoft office applications and previous experience with project accounting systems would be desirable.
Ability to communicate with people at all levels in both technical and non-technical environments;
Effective written communication and report writing skills;
Ability to maintain personal effectiveness particularly during periods of higher than normal workload; good time management skills;
Ability to remain positively motivated and foster team spirit at times of significant pressure, including assisting others to meet deadlines;
Proactive and analytical approach to their work;
Desire to excel;
