About the opportunity
Due to continued growth and involvement in major projects Jacobs has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our established Industrial group to assist in mechanical and materials handling engineering design and project works.
This role will provide technical support for the design effort in accordance with the project delivery process, technical standards and Company and Client procedures.
Key Responsibilities include;
Provide technical engineering expertise to projects as required
Develop efficient and functional designs, undertake detailed calculations, provide input to drawings, specifications, equipment and material selection, and vendor liaison and technical assessment
Report to the Lead Engineer to provide task estimates and progress updates
Assist Lead Engineer in developing responses to requests for quotations and technical documents
Commitment to quality and compliance criteria
Assist the Lead Engineer with resolution of engineering issues and challenges
Implement improvements to design, procedures, proposals and work practices that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the group and our clients
Preparation of clear and concise documentation including calculations, data sheets and reports
Assessment and management of design and project risks, including participation in Safety in Design reviews
Communication with peers and clients to provide informed and timely responses and deliverables
Knowledge of and compliance with relevant Australian and International Standards, and Statutory and Regulatory requirements
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a minimum of 2 years post graduate experience in design and project works. This should include materials handling design (conveyors and process plants), and industrial piping and pumping design (hydraulic network calculations is desirable). You will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills. You will have an ethical and proactive approach, and work well in an individual and team environment. Previous experience in the Mining Industry will be highly regarded.
