As a member of the ConocoPhillips (COP) Australia Pacific LNG Operations team, this position will contribute to the development of an organization which embraces a commitment to best practices and operational excellence. Achieving zero injuries, incidents, and maintaining standards for achieving excellence in operational performance.
Reporting to the Laboratory Specialist, the Laboratory Analyst will provide technical expertise to the Laboratory Team, executing a robust sampling and chemical analysis plan. The Laboratory Analyst is expected to ensure that laboratory systems and instrumentation remains in working order and displays troubleshooting expertise when required.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Sampling and analysis of the full spectrum of APLNG DS process streams including gas, amine, process and waste water and communicating results to relevant stakeholders
Calibration, maintenance and housekeeping of laboratory equipment and facilities
Undertake analytical procedures utilising complex instrumentation including Gas Chromatography, Atomic Emission Spectrometry, Auto Titrators, Mercury Analysers, Ion Chromatography and Horiba Oil in Water Analysers
Working in a small team environment to achieve goals aligned with the wider operations group with minimal supervision
Coordinate external analysis with contract laboratories when required
LIMS focal point
Cover for out of hours work when required, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
Assist with training within the laboratory when required
Procedure reviews and development Key HSE Responsibility
Comply with HSE policies, Life Saving Rules, procedures, goals and programs within the Australia Business Unit East (ABUE) HSE Management System. Actively engage in, and contribute to HSE communication and consultation processes. Lead by example and contribute directly to positive HSE performance and culture through visible action, high standards and commitment to safe work practices. Demonstrate a commitment to establishing and meeting HSE performance targets and generate ideas for continuous HSE performance improvement. Understand and manage the hazards and risks associated with your role and other risks that can impact our organizational objectives.
Ensure the laboratory maintains good practice in regards to chemical handling.
Ensure that Laboratory procedures reflect high HSE standards. Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following experience and qualifications:
Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) 2-5 years hydrocarbon analysis laboratory experience Strong interpersonal skills Experience working in an industrial environment Demonstrated experience working with and troubleshooting Gas Chromatographs Experience with using a LIMS Familiar with Microsoft Office suite Flexibility with working hours Preferred
