About the role

Reporting to the Manager of Technology Design, the Lead Business Analyst will be responsible for leading teams and their input into minor and major studies and ensuring technology selection is aligned with the BHP technology standards.

In the role ofLead Business Analystyou will:

  • Lead and provide guidance to Specialist BA’s within your team

  • Engage with Major Projects, Technology Business Partners and Production Systems teams to ensure proposed studies are aligned to required outcomes and priorities

  • Ensure Study Programs / Projects deliver designs that meet stakeholder requirements in relation to operational readiness, safety, design stability and value

  • Create and maintain the integrity of Production Systems technology blueprints and standards

  • Engagement with Technology Planning to understand demand and manage flow of work

Skills and Experience

  • Strong effective communicator; with solid interpersonal skills and analytical decision-making capability.

  • Demonstrated experience with Agile, Waterfall and hybrid Waterfall project methodologies

  • Outstanding senior stakeholder management skills

  • Adopts a broad and forward-looking perspective, focusing on the ultimate desired future state of the organization or alternatives that must be considered to achieve optimal overall results

  • Experience in leadership roles in project delivery with industry experience in mining, oil & gas, utilities or manufacturing strongly desirable.

  • Familiarity with best practice delivery practices including technical deliverables, vendor management, quality assurance, commissioning and operational readiness.

  • Consultancy experience is desirable

  • Experience in technology development and design environment essential.

  • Conversant and passion for Information Technologies, Operational Technologies or Engineering Technologies is essential.

  • Previous experience mentoring and managing teams of Business Analysts.


  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Engineering or related discipline and equivalent IT/OT experience

  • ITIL Certification preferred but not essential
