About the role
TheSpecialist Modifications and Small Projectsrole reports to the Engineering Superintendent, Modifications & Small Projects within the Engineering Department.
You will draw on your excellent leadership and technical capabilities to plan, manage and execute capital and major opex projects and engineering work to support the site’s five year capital and opex plans.
As part of a highly collaborative team, you will work with all internal and external stakeholders and manage engineering contractors to achieve the right outcome for the business. This role allows for professional development including step-up opportunities into the superintendent role from time to time.
Based at ourHay Point Coal Terminal, near Mackaythis role is being offered on an ideal Monday to Friday day shift only basis.
Proactively manage safety in the team and broader Hay Point operation through the Field Leadership program
Support the development of the site’s five year capital and operational budgets through project development and delivery
Manage the planning, safe execution, and commissioning of approved Modifications and Small Projects and deliver work on scope, schedule, cost and safety targets
Engage the operation across all departments, including key internal and external stakeholders, suppliers and contractors
Lead a small team of mechanical and structural engineers to provide project front-end-loading for the site’s project portfolio
Model complex problems and business cases to understand value propositions of projects, ensuring that business cases are clearly understood
Proactively investigate and implement safety, productivity, and cost initiatives across site
Ensure that project studies and delivery meet the relevant BMA and Australian Standards
As a degree-qualified mechanical engineer your experience in a similar role will be advantageous. You will have proficient project management skills within in the resources sector, or transferable heavy industry experience. You will have demonstrable ability to influence and build relationship with a range of stakeholders at all levels of a business. You will have contract and contractor management experience, including drafting, negotiation, tendering and variation management.
