Principal Business Partnership Risk

Our Minerals Australia Business includes operations in Western Australia, Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia, focusing on iron ore, copper, coal and nickel.

We are currently seeking aPrincipal Business Partnership Riskto partner with our line (operations and functions) to support our operations and functions to drive continuous improvement and identify initiatives / opportunities that proactively manage risks. The role will be based in our modern Brisbane office, with reasonable travel across the region. The role reports to the Manager Risk Business Partners, Coal Assets and will part of a small team helping to provide direction to sustainably deliver value and improve risk outcomes for the business. The role will also play a part to ensure standard application of the risk management methodology and an accurate risk profile.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Enable Asset management (Risk Steering Committees and Leadership Teams) to monitor and drive process performance

    • Actively provide leadership in Risk Management practice across Coal Assets with the aim of improving risk management practices and internal control
  • Provide Leadership Teams with accurate and timely Risk Information (e.g. annual planning, comparison of relevant data sets) and functional metric compliance

  • Delivery of Risk Steering Committee and BRAC Reporting obligations

  • Continuous improvement of risk management maturity across Coal Assets

    • Training and coaching of line leaders to own and embed the risk management program
  • Simplification of risk management governance tools and processes

  • Leading Coal wide risk management reviews and

  • Global benchmarking and internal review material risks

  • Facilitate and liaise with Group risk and assurance (RAA) during scheduled RAA audits (Business and Technical audits)

  • Continuously improve master data quality in 1SAP and business adherence to process metrics

    • Facilitate continuous improvement of risk capability (people, process and system) across Coal Assets, with specific focus on the provision of high quality risk and control assessments
  • Adherence and compliance with BHP Billiton Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations

  • Commit to an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development

About you

At least 5 years technical background in engineering, commerce, project management or specialist functional support discipline experience in capital intensive industries. Post graduate qualifications be highly favourable as well as a deep understanding of risk management, strong business acumen, and a commercial mindset. Ability to influence actions and decisions of senior leaders and stakeholders will be essential in this role. Strong attention to detail will be critical to your success, as will your ability to achieve deadlines and problem solve. Finally, your strong communication skills will ensure you can work effectively with a range of stakeholders, and will enable you to build and maintain relationships.
