About the Opportunity

The Technical Computing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) team are responsible for the alignment of Technical Computing and Geographic Information Systems Platforms across BHPB globally. The Senior GIS Consultant/Developer will be reporting to the Superintendent of Technical Computing and GIS in APAC and will be primarily responsible for gathering requirements and ultimately delivery of GIS services to the business.

You will engage stakeholders to identify, analyse and prioritise GIS related service requests and projects. Assessing these against platform architecture and developing discrete interfaces or workflows to leverage a standard technology suite. You will collaborate with the broader Technical Computing and GIS team to plan and build workflows or scope these into larger projects for inclusion into the portfolio.

About you

To be successful you will need to have the following:

  • The candidate should have 8+ years relevant professional experience with a qualification in Computer Science, Geographic Information Science or a technical discipline.

  • Experience with ESRI technologies is a must.

  • Proven skills in working with programming language Python and its applied use in GIS data management workflow.

  • Able to convey technical information to non-technical people in a concise and clear way.

  • Self-driven individual with the ability to gather requirements, identify synergies and promote the advancement and applied use of core GIS technology throughout the business.

  • Demonstrated experience in Geographic Information systems data publishing workflows and automated deployment technology (Python, familiarity with Jenkins).

  • Experience in implementation and on-going maintenance of an Enterprise GIS.

  • Working knowledge of web based development technologies such as Web App Builder, JavaScript, Geocortex, etc.

  • Relationship management, negotiation skills and senior stakeholder management experiences will be critical for this role.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate with at all levels in both verbal and written communications.

  • Ability to lead and work effectively in a diverse and globally dispersed virtual team environment, guiding and supporting team members.

  • Flexible work hours are required to support teams in multiple time zones and travel may be required.
