Job Description:

  • Provide Technical rigour from an overall System point of view to any provided Technical Information from OEM or other sources that may affect the capability, serviceability or safety of the products listed in the program.

  • Analyzes user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications. Analyzes system requirements and leads design and development activities

  • Guides users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies

  • Provides technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology

  • Incorporates new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations

  • Develops technical documentation, system Architecture, and system design documentation, including engineering management plans and system integration documents

  • Interacts with the customer regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts

  • Communicates with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives

  • Manages system requirements and derived requirements to ensure the delivery of production systems that are compatible with the defined system architecture(s) – Department of Defence Architecture Framework (DoDAF), Service-oriented Architecture (SOA), etc

  • Participates in interface definition, design, and changes to the configuration between affected groups and individuals throughout the life cycle

  • Generates alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions

  • Develops derived requirements for Information Assurance Services (Confidentiality, Integrity, Non repudiation, and Availability); Basic Information Assurance Mechanisms (e.g., Identification, Authentication, Access Control, Accountability); and Security Mechanism Technology (Passwords, cryptography, discretionary access control, mandatory access control, hashing, key management, etc.)

  • Reviews and provides input to program and contract work breakdown structure (WBS), work packages and the integrated master plan (IMP)

  • Work in a highly dynamic hardware & software development and integration lab


  • 10+ years of related System Engineering experience and general knowledge of systems engineering processes with a (BS) Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering or equivalent experience

  • Currently possesses a Defence NV1 Clearance or is prepared to undertake the clearance process

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Oral and Written Communication skills

  • Knowledge of Systems architectural development

  • Development, engineering, interfacing and integration of hardware, firmware and software systems

  • Software components including firmware, operating systems, drivers, applications and other computing system software

  • Strong self-motivation and initiative

  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, ability to interact with a cross functional team, act as customer interface

  • Disciplined approach to procedural and program documentation of processes and results

  • Ability to collaborate across all levels of leadership

  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Experience with writing Requirements and technical documentation

  • Experience with development of Work Breakdown Structures and Engineering Estimates

  • Experience with HF, VHF, tactical SATCOM, and networking waveforms is desired (Harris Radio experience a plus)

  • Experience working on or with the Commonwealth Department of Defence mission and/or support systems

  • Other System Engineering tools such as Matlab, OPNET and DOORs

  • Experienced System Engineer with a strong background in military communication systems with good working knowledge of the Technical and Regulatory Defence Compliance Frameworks

  • Experience with Link Propagation and Co-Site Interference is desired

  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally, engage with key stakeholders, and provide responsive and timely solutions to customer Engineering requirements

  • Current Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) certification a plus

  • Experience in design of IP networks, RF antenna systems, two-way radio systems, microwave systems, wireless data systems, data networking, as well as system configuration is desired.
