Our Operations

One of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. This role is based in Adelaide, offering quality standard of living without the high costs of most other Australian capital cities. Please note this role will be based in Adelaide, with weekly site travel to Olympic Dam required.

About the role

We are currently seeking a Manager Finance Business Partnering for our Finance team based in our Adelaide office. The role reports to the Head of Finance, and acts as the single point of accountability for all commercial aspects and cost continuous improvement for our Olympic Dam asset. You will partner with the General Manager in pursuit of word-class productivity, offering insights on managing accountability, performance management, and cost optimization.

In this role you will:

  • Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching your team

  • Build credibility and partner with the General Manager and Operations Lead Teams to drive improvement of commercial outcomes

  • Focus on value drivers, current and emerging bottlenecks to maximise value

  • Drive discipline on cost ownership and influence action plans

  • Lead the development of financial input to Finance 5-Year Plan and 2-Year Budget, including driving performance to benchmark

  • Identify, build and develop commercial talent and capability through coaching and mentoring

  • Influence a plan-do-check-at approach with the operation team to focus on what is important, what is possible, and actions to close the gap

  • Approve financial analysis performed in the assessment of improvement projects, cost savings initiatives and cost drivers, as well as sharing insights with Operations Lead Teams

  • Support the Operation in understanding and maintaining alignment with Risk Management processes

  • Reconcile and review actual outcomes (both Operating and Capital expenditure) for alignment with budget and with continuous improvement goals

  • Manage monthly reporting and forecasting processes

  • Perform commercial evaluation and make informed recommendations on key decisions

About you:

  • Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership’

  • An experienced finance professional, or Mining Engineer with finance experience, with proven commercial acumen and finance training (for example, MBA)

  • Ability to be the right hand to the General Manager, identifying, supporting and challenging the way forward

  • Works collaboratively with operational improvement teams to deliver value to the bottom line

  • Creates a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and delivery of value add results

  • Ability to bring together key stakeholders so decisions can be made to maxamise commercial outcomes

  • Enthusiastic, confident self-starter, with the ability to motivate and develop team members

  • Attention to detail, with the ability to meet deadlines and problem solve
