Our Operations

One of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. The local township of Roxby Downs is an active and progressive community offering a variety of modern, well-equipped housing, educational, health, sporting, leisure, shopping and cultural facilities.

Please note this is a 2 year Fixed Term position based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 5/2 roster, with residential or FIFO options available.

About the role

This Principal HSE role is responsible for the planning and execution of health, safety and environment management for Capital Projects. Management of partnership with the Capital Projects team to ensure delivery of health, safety and environment and GLD requirements for the shutdown.

In this role you will:

  • Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching your team

  • Lead HSE management using in house systems to provide a consistent approach across all contractors, and develop the Capital Projects HSE team

  • Ensure HSE systems on site at Olympic Dam are comprehensive and well understood by existing contractors

  • Ensure a process is in place for identifying, controlling and verifying HSE risks

  • Provision of advice and support to Capital Projects during all project phases

  • Providing coaching in field leadership to Owner’s team, HSE team and supervisors

  • Complete fatigue risk assessment of roster options

  • Ensure injury treatment and return to work systems and facilities are in place

  • Design and manage radiation control and fit for work programs

  • Develop and implement material risk visualisation tool and management

  • Ensure legislative compliance for all aspects of Health, Safety and Environment for the project

About you:

  • Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership’

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science, Environmental Science, Radiation, Physics, Health and Safety Management, or similar field

  • Previous experience in major projects

  • Detailed knowledge of key concepts, theories and practices related to effective control of HSE related risks

  • Demonstrated direct supervisory experience leading small-medium teams

  • Proven ability to influence and mentor others in HSE principles and behaviours

  • Experience with 1SAP, and Medgate applications is highly desirable
