Our Operations

One of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. The local township of Roxby Downs is an active and progressive community offering a variety of modern, well equipped housing, educational, health, sporting, leisure, shopping and cultural facilities.

Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 5/2 roster pattern arrangement.

About the role

As the Specialist Production Safety A&I you will provide specialist advice and execute tasks associated with ensuring a robust governance and compliance process exists and is followed in the operation.

In this role you will:

  • Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day

  • Undertake audits governance and oversight of the relevant legislation and regulations to ensure site compliance

  • Inspection, auditing and reporting to regulatory frameworks and to surface leadership

  • Analysis and improvement in safety – review of previous data and strategy to improve going forward

  • Act as point of contact for the SA Mines Inspector and monitoring compliance to Mines Safety and Inspections Act and Regulations

  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of Critical Controls, ensuring suitable controls are in place and verified through a planned audit process

  • Provide support and guidance in the ICAM process

  • Generation & Collaboration for MOC System Improvements

  • Development and Update of Audit actions

  • Review risk register completeness

  • Assist and monitors the development of the training curriculum and manages the associated training development, delivery, recording and assessment as required as per the Site SHMS

About you:

  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way

  • Experience in a Process Engineering, Chemistry, or Safety / Risk role, ideally within Mineral Processing, Smelting/Refining or oil and gas operations

  • Data gathering, analytical and critical assessment skills

  • Experience developing project objectives and implementation plans for systems and processes that impact a variety of stakeholders

  • Ability to demonstrate the application of assurance processes in an industrial environment

  • Communications skills that enable relationships to be advantageous across all levels and departments

  • Experience dealing with hazardous materials and compliant chemical databases
