One of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. Please note this position is based in Adelaide, operating on a 5/2 roster, with site travel required.
About the role
BHP are embarking on an exciting future of major and asset projects and we need talented people to help us be successful. You will be working with a dynamic and diverse projects team with a great culture and comradery. Together we will be executing some of South Australia’s largest mining projects and growing our future.
As the Superintendent Category Management Projects you will play an integral part of providing leadership and guidance to the projects team on strategic and complex contracts, and it is similar to that of a Commercial/Contracts Manager.
In this role you will:
Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching your team
Lead a commercial contracts team to successfully execute a portfolio of tailings dams, evaporation ponds and other related projects over the value of $300M
Develop and maintain Contracts & Procurement Strategy and Sourcing Strategies that minimise risk and maximise effective project delivery
Ensure that market engagement is planned and executed to meet project schedule, quality and cost objectives
Use your extensive experience to monitor and mentor the team to ensure they have sufficient capacity and capability to provide end-to-end contract management support to project teams
Manage contractor and contract performance monitoring and reporting to support the Projects Category (KPI reporting, spend analytics, contract variations, claims management, and off-contract spend)
Establish and lead relationships with key stakeholders to become a highly valued contract expert, to lead negotiations with vendors and provide on-going contract management
Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership’
Demonstrated leadership capability, with success in leading change and managing risk
A pragmatic commercial outlook with excellent judgement to deliver the best outcomes for our business
Experience with contract law or contract management
A collaborative and inclusive approach, with advanced interpersonal skills
