Dell Backup Specialist in Sydney, Australia
Provides operational and Virtustream Managed Services support to customers for implementations and management of Dell EMC solutions. Works closely with the customer on product and operational best practices; ensures the technical solutions work as intended in the customer's environment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for performing daily operational tasks and maintaining availability of the backup environment at the customer site(s). Provisions Backup client solutions based on standardized procedures as outlined by the product’s best practice documentation.
Performs necessary backup infrastructure maintenance in accordance with Dell EMC and customer's change management policies. Maintain Backup hardware and associated software at high levels of performance by monitoring, responding and resolving incidents, code upgrades and maintenance releases to ensure the environment is optimally configured.
Management and troubleshooting of Backup clients, Backup servers, Backup Storage Appliance Management Servers for multiple critical systems.
Participates in 24x7 oncall roster duties including working with customers and vendor partner’s onsite and remote offshore teams.
Work in highly complex backup environment and maintain incidents resolution on a daily basis, including following up with vendor and customer. Meet response time SLA set by the customers.
Performs and attends change and problem management meetings and reporting.
Represents Virtustream in a professional manner to customers, Virtustream Partners and other Virtustream personnel at all times. Provides support and instruction to customers and less experienced co-workers. Acts as a mentor and assists or presents training development environments to peers, customers and other organizations.
Provides proactive recommendations to the customer for improving their use of Dell EMC Backup solutions to help maximize their satisfaction with Dell EMC. Actively contributes to the configuration, layout and performance tuning of Dell EMC products.
May assist the team with producing reports on capacity and SLA.
Performs according to established safety standards. Reports unsafe situations and recommends improvements. Prepares, maintains, and submits activity/progress reports and time recording/management reports in accordance with published procedures.
Seeks advice or assistance from management and/or Technical Support as required during difficult customer situations. Works in conjunction with Dell EMC customer support colleagues to ensure effective resolution of technical issues encountered during implementations.
Participates in the continual review and improvement of existing operational policies and procedures in compliance with best practices.
May perform other duties as requested.

Experience in administration of storage or backup hardware and appliance, backup management software and/or operating systems environments.
Experience in Dell EMC and IBM Product like Avamar, Networker, TSM, ECS, DataDomain preferred
Knowledge in VMware and host virtualization, Networking, Unix and windows systems prefered.
Dell EMC Certification desired.
IBM Tivoli Certification desired.
Education Required: Bachelors (Technical or computer sciences degree or equivalent preferred )
