We’re seeking aDirector, Privacy APAC - MEAin our Sydney office.In this role, you will report to the Privacy Counsel, Director Americas and Global Digital in continuing to build, implement, update and maintain a world class privacy program, with a particular focus on the Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Middle East and Africa (MEA) Regions.

The main responsibilities of the position include:
As part of theGlobal Privacy and Information Governance Team, with members in 7 countries,you will assist in the implementation of the global privacy program in the APACand MEA Regions, advise the business units on the practical impacts of dataprotection requirements and emerging privacy laws and trends, and on thedevelopment of solutions, processes and controls frameworks necessary to fulfilWU’s privacy obligations.
You will be thekey privacy resource for the APAC and MEA Regions, reviewing products andservices (including working with WU’s Director Privacy for Global Digital);business programmes and projects; business partnerships; marketing and otherinitiatives, to assess their privacy impact on consumers to identify andmitigate risk and to support growth.
You will assistwith data incidents and various regulatory matters.
Working with ourglobal privacy team, you will support the ongoing review and maintenance ofprivacy and consent notices; DPA registrations and notifications; dataprotection and transfer agreements, and generally help to make sure WU complieswith privacy laws.
Additionally, youwill assist with the global strategy, marketing and communications plan of theGlobal Privacy Office.
5-7 years’in-house legal experience or experience at a law firm.
Strong experiencein data protection and privacy in a commercially focused in-house environment.
Strong knowledgeof privacy regulations in the APAC and MEA Regions with experience working in amultinational company.
7-10 years’ dataprivacy experience CIPP/Asia Certification or similar strongly preferred.
Experience ofrolling-out privacy related initiatives Experience of dealing with dataprotection authorities.
Ability to workindependently with minimal supervision and as part of a global team that’s notco-located.
Ability to buildcredibility with senior regional and global management Excellent verbal andwritten communication skills, including confident presentation skills Excellentorganisational and prioritisation skills and ability to manage complex,long-term initiatives.
Ability toinfluence and challenge business partners in a constructive and persuasivemanner.
Ability tobalance privacy risk with delivering business objectives Ability to arrive atcreative solutions.
Ability to distilprivacy concepts and requirements into clear recommendations for businesspartners.
Since this is atruly international company, and we are seeking a person with a trulyinternational outlook, who is able to manage a privacy program in multiplejurisdictions in a business that is inherently international and cross-border.
Strong MS OfficeSuite skills necessary especially MS PowerPoint.
Some travel maybe required, including international travel.
