Job Description

PayPal operates a dynamic business in Australia that addresses the payment needs of both merchants and consumers across web, mobile and retail environments.

In this role the candidate will focus on consulting with merchant and channel partners to drive the adoption, use, and preference for PayPal and Braintree by addressing customer needs and by offering partners the best payment experience across all channels through which payments are accepted.

Leveraging their commerce and technical knowledge, the candidate will work with commercial teams and engage directly with enterprise and strategic clients to identify best practice solutions which meet the needs of the partner. The candidate will participate in negotiations with the most senior executives and drive engagement with key technical contacts of Australia’s leading commerce businesses. And will be the main point of contact for the client and internal teams during the pre-sales and integration process.

  • Pre-sales Consultation. Deep involvement from the early stages of the sales process supporting Sales, Channel and Relationship Management teams to demonstrate value in PayPal and Braintree’s products, and to remove any technical obstacles in accepting PayPal as a payment method. Utilising a consultative approach and leveraging subject matter expertise to architect best in class integrations. Identify opportunities to incorporate PayPal assets to create truly end-to-end commerce solutions. This will involve the creation of PowerPoint presentation mock-ups, demo or prototype solutions and other support materials.

  • Merchant Integration Analysis, Design, and Validation. Demonstrate understanding of a merchant’s product, process and technical requirements of payment processing and the ability to match these with existing PayPal solutions. Identify and drive product development where merchant requirements warrant. Production of documentation to define solution and technical proposals.

  • Integration Support. Working with Integration Engineers who will assist merchants’ and partners’ technical teams throughout implementation; run test scenarios and QA testing; perform initial monitoring of post-sales performance.


  • 5+ years in Presales, Sales engineering or related consultation experience working with enterprise clients.

  • Experience in (web) application development, technical integration or project management.

  • Exceptional Consultative skills, drawing on wide industry experience for creative solutioning.

  • Experience with partnering with a sales team throughout a sales process.

  • Results oriented, analytical, self motivated & a “hands on” person with proven ability to meet objectives & targets.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a flexible environment and is open to change.

  • Self-starter, motivated, proactive and customer focused individual.

  • Demonstrable experience with at least one web/software development environment (e.g. .NET, Java, PHP, Node.js).

  • Knowledge of online payment processing, mobile apps and web.

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent required.
