Amazon.com is looking for experienced Systems Engineers and Systems Development Engineers to build tools, services and infrastructure to meet the emerging needs of the Amazon Security Operations Center (ASOC) in Sydney, Australia. You will participate in the design, development, deployment and monitoring of the systems that enable Amazon security engineering teams to be fast, precise and super effective.
This position will progress your career growth as a Systems Engineer or Systems Development Engineer and optionally provide the opportunity to develop security-related skills leading to a Security Engineer position.
Work continuously with Information Security teams to identify the tools and capabilities needed to secure the enterprise.
Design, build and support security tools and services.
Ensure the high performance and availability of our team's products.
Provide engineering consultation and participate in system design reviews.
Strong Unix/Linux or Windows administration skills.
Experience with security best practices in server configuration, tool development and access controls.
Firm grasp of networking fundamentals.
Proficiency with at least one modern, high-level programming language (Python/Ruby/Java/Perl/Go/etc).
1+ years experience as a Systems Engineer or in a similar role.
Experience deploying or managing servers in large-scale, geographically diverse environments.
Proficiency with core AWS services (e.g. EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB).
Previous experience with configuration management (e.g. automated provisioning and remote configuration of software, hosts and/or network devices).
Experience with capacity planning, utilization review & performance monitoring.
Strong software development skills: familiarity with common design patterns, data structures, unit and integration testing and code review practices.
