The purpose of the role is to prevent injuries or harm occurring to our most important asset, our people as well as any other person who interact with our facilities and equipment. The role also ensures we are legislatively compliant in all relevant areas.

The HSE Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance and general running of the safety management system in line with best practice standards. The role also is responsible for the day to day management of safety related activities and compliance with legislative requirements at multiple sites and to assist compliance with State relevant HSE laws.

Geographically the role covers Australia and New Zealand.

To be successful in this role you will have:

Education

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety

  • Up to date knowledge of HSE Laws and practices in Australia & NZ, including, workers’ compensation

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience of 5+ years in a safety leadership position within the Construction or Heavy Equipment industries

  • Understanding of hydraulics, safety PLC’s, mechanics and pneumatics.

  • Sound knowledge and previous exposure to Australian and NZ Standards

  • Active affiliation with appropriate Occupational Health & Safety networks and organizations

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully design and implement HSE plans to white and blue collar work environments

  • Proven ability of getting positive results with unionized workforces

  • Effective implementation of updated policies and procedures

  • Previous experience successfully managing work cover claims

The successful candidate will require the ability to liaise between various work groups and demonstrate a high level of customer service, personal resilience and commitment to safety and teamwork as this is essential for success in the role. It is anticipated this role will commence as soon as possible.
