In the Alumina Process Chemicals Unit, we drive top line growth and profitability by delivering innovative breakthrough technology that will revolutionize the Alumina industry allowing refinery operators to increase profits and to reduce the capital required for Greenfield expansions. Reporting into the Regional Sales Manager, the person in this role will have a key role in the realization of the Alumina Processing Chemicals business growth objective for Australia.

Major Responsibilities:

  • The candidate’s primary objective is to grow and develop the Alumina Process Chemicals sales results in West Australia;

  • Actively participate in the construction and implementation of the sales account strategy;

  • Develop new applicatuons and establish a sustainable relationship with the customer by ensuring multi-level contacts at Refineries;

  • Complete and execute plans for the exploitation of sales opportunities in coordination with the regional and global Alumina sales team;

  • Drive New Product Introduction commercialization;

  • Accountable for business planning including trial and commercial proposals, sales forecasting, account planning, and pricing recommendation;

  • Actively collect market intelligence and support the sales and marketing team in establishing the sales strategy in anticipation of market changes and/or evolutions;

  • Establish and maintain excellent work relationships with the technical services support team;

  • Apply and safeguard the application of Solvay safety regulations in all circumstances;

  • Ensure compliance to internal reporting requirement including but not limited to call report / service report / call out report / monthly highlight / trial proposal / trial report;

  • Comply to Solvay policies such as code of conduct, anti-bribery, anti-trust, business travel expense guidelines etc.

A successful candidate will:

  • Possess a Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering, metallurgy or chemistry.

  • At least 5 years Alumina Bayer process experience or related equipment and process chemical reagent field.

  • Demonstrate good technical and commercial sense with a high focus on value selling.

  • Desire to build excellent customer relationships while promoting Solvay products to the benefit of the clients.

  • Demonstrate excellent project planning skills related to planning and execution of laboratory work and product trials.

  • Expert compentency in MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint and/or Google Chrome identical programs.

  • Possess excellent writing skills in support of information exchanges with customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Problem-solver by nature, acting as first point of contact for the customer in case of product questions or requests for support.

A successful candidate should possess these qualities:

  • Excellent communication in both written and spoken English.

  • Be a strong team player with focus on compliance to company policies.

  • Demonstrate a hunter personality.

  • Be comfortable with working remotely (primary location is in West Australia - home office based).

  • Willing to travel or be on customer site at least 60% of his/her time.

  • Able to operate in a global/virtual organization.
