GSIC (Global Security Intelligence Centre) is a specialised NEC environment located in Adelaide the intent of which is to provide a secure facility for the development and delivery of NEC’s Cyber Security services as well as providing technical support to NEC Federal, State and Government and Enterprise customers.

We are now looking for a Security Engineer to join our winning team. The role is to be part of delivering system engineering services within the NEC GSIC environment located in the NEC Adelaide offices.

Key responsibilities:

  • Customer request fulfilment on security devices that includes, but not limited to; firewalls, proxy servers, intrusion detection / prevention, virtual private networks, GSIC systems and authentication services within the contracted SLA time.

  • Use troubleshooting tools and techniques to diagnose and implement control actions as necessary to ensure availability including performance in terms of capacity, utilisation, and availability in accordance with relevant Service Level Agreements on security systems, services and devices.

  • Analyse traffic data and providing recommendations on performance improvements to security infrastructures as required. Complete software vulnerability assessments for customer security devices and services, and perform associated software upgrades and patching as required.

  • Testing, implementing, monitoring and tuning security software/hardware to ensure optimum systems performance and highlight potential issues. Create and maintain work instructions for security services and tasks,ensuring storage in relevant documentation library.

  • Provide input to reporting engineers on customer operational and architecture reports.

  • Provide input as required to the Design Authority Office (DAO) on proposed security designs.

  • Provide onsite assistance and support to customers and field staff in the resolution of system and application type faults as required.

Knowledge, skills and experience relevant to this role:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar role;

  • Solid experience with IT security products via GUI and CLI;

  • Good understanding of regulations relating to technology risk, data privacy and security compliance;

  • Proven track record and experience in supporting information security devices and procedures;

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate security and risk-related concepts to technical and non-technical audiences;

  • High level of personal integrity, as well as the ability to professionally handle confidential matters;

  • Good analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, as well as the ability to work well in a demanding, dynamic environment and meet overall objectives;

  • Experience and ability to working effectively with industry partners and suppliers;

  • Ability to perform detailed design documentation when required Bachelor Degree in IT Security or similar;

  • ITIL V3 Foundation certification

  • Bachelor Degree of IT Security

  • Australian Citizen

  • CCNA Security
