About the Business

The CP Midrange team provides ongoing support services to the department of Defence for the centralised computing infrastructure.

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Systems Engineer (Wintel) – Level 3 to provide technical support and maintenance for the Datacentre Communications support services by resolving incidents, work orders and change requests within the committed timeframes. This is a senior role within the team and the successful imcumbent will be required to mentor/lead more junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Midrange Team Lead, you will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Monitor systems in line with pre-defined operational controls, processes and requirements

  • Actively contribute to collaboration and communication within your team

  • Implement system changes as requested

  • Run and distribute defined system management reports

  • Prepare and distribute ad-hoc system management reports as requested

  • Support the Incident, Event, Problem and Change Management structure

  • Identify and escalate any identified need for improvement to the Team Leader

  • Mentor/coach/lead junior team members where required

Skills & Experience

To be successful in the role, you will be an experienced Technical Support Engineer, specifically with exposure to hardware diagnostics and troubleshooting in an enterprise environment. You will also have some mentoring/leadership ability.

Additionally, you will have the following:

  • A 'can-do' attitude and ability to provide a level of subject matter leadership and technical support to the team

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Experience working in a Datacentre Communications Technical Support/Engineer role (highly desirable)

  • Working knowledge of virtualised environments and Microsoft technologies

  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications in IT, business (highly desirable)
