About the business

The Infrastructures Services team provides operational and project based services to NEC and our customers. These services include operational monitoring of servers both windows and Unix/Linux based, Database monitoring and administration, Monitoring and management of Exchange, Active Directory, Storage, Backup and other Microsoft server products. The team provides infrastructure architectural and management services.

About the role

An exciting, permanent opportunity has arisen for a Team Lead – infrastructure services to provide technical support, leadership and day to day management of the database team.

This is a highly visible technical role that is expected to be the point of escalation to engage in technical issues to drive resolution and customer satisfaction for Government and non-Government customers.

Key responsibilities

Reporting to the Database Technical Delivery Manager, you will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Manage and handle escalation for major incidents to the Technical Delivery Manager and/or Major Incident Management team (SRMs)

  • Support the relevant service owners in developing and maintaining service descriptions, project SOW’s

  • Identify and escalate any identified need for improvement to the Technical Delivery Manager

  • Participate as requested in process forums

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team relating to fault finding methodologies, customer management and problem resolutions

  • Manage day to day resource management issues of direct reports (performance/KPI/issues/Leave) along with approval of timesheets, overtime and on call rostering

Skills and experience

To be successful in the role, you will have a significant number of years' experience in a technical leadership role in an IT/Operations complex corporate environment.

Additionally, you will have the following:

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification (or equivalent 3-5 years’ experience)

  • Australian Citizenship

  • Must have a ‘can-do’ attitude and be prepared to support the needs of a professional team

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • 2 years relevant experience with database proactive monitoring, patching, upgrades, migrations, database backup and recovery.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Previous Team Management / Leadership experience
