Volvo Group Logistics Director in Wacol, Australia

Volvo Group Australia currently has a very rare opportunity for an experienced Logistic Director to join our renowned Production Facility, being the largest assembly plant for heavy duty trucks in Australia.

This is vital role responsible for managing the Logistics department including production planning, material control, logistic preparation and engineering, and warehouse operations, while securing cross functional dialogue with Group Trucks Technology Purchasing on supplier performance and coaching. Therefore, in order to be successful in this role, you must be an expert in supply chain, with strong strategic planning and leadership skills.

About the Role:

  • Responsible for the overall performance of the Logistics Department

  • Set and manage the strategic directions and KPIs of the department

  • Drive systematic improvements of processes and procedures

  • Secure cross functional dialogue to collect market input for factory capacity planning by liaising with the regional APAC function and local Combined Program Meeting

  • Manage production scheduling, short and long term planning and ordering of materials

  • Manage imported goods transport planning, inventory levels and obsolescence

  • Manage product change projects within the logistic area

  • Lead, manage and coach the Logistics team

About you:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in logistics/business management

  • Min 10 years’ experience in logistics, preferably within a manufacturing environment

  • Proven experience managing a department and a part of a leadership team

  • Strong leadership skills, with proven ability to successfully manage Managers

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate appropriately with all levels of Stakeholders

  • Strong analytical and strategic skills

  • Strong commercial acumen

  • Previous change management experience

  • A thorough understanding of IS09001, IS014001 (environment), Workplace, Health & Safety legislation, and lean manufacturing

  • Proficient computer skills as well as an acumen for new systems and IT applications
