Volvo Group Material Controller in Wacol, Australia

Volvo Group Australia is currently seeking a proactive and self-motivated Material Controller to join our established Production Facility. The primary focus of this role is to provide a high standard of customer service by ensuring parts availability whilst maintaining optimal stock levels and continually seeking ways to lower logistics costs. Our Production Facility is the largest assembly plant for heavy vehicle duty trucks in Australia. To date, Volvo Group Australia have built more than 55,000 trucks (Volvo and Mack) onsite.

About the role:

  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators of parts availability, rush transport cost and inventory performance

  • Prepare and process suppliers delivery schedules and forecasting

  • Monitor fluctuations in the MRP requirements and act accordingly

  • Follow-up and act on suppliers delivery and transport deviations

  • Maintain supplier details and logistics parameters in accordance to system requirements

  • Work cross-functionally with all internal and external customers/suppliers

  • Adherence to logistics / factory processes and escalation routines

  • Continuous improvements culture using VPS concepts (Kaizen, RCA,VSM)

About you:

  • Previous experience working in a supply chain management role

  • Previous experience in the automotive and parts industry

  • Personal organisational skills including the ability to prioritise work

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, along with customer service experience

  • Strong computer skills and accurate data entry skills

  • Basic understanding of EDI (preferable)

  • Ability to cope with pressure

  • Proactive approach and problem solving skills

  • Sense of ownership and engagement

  • Ability to work on a team as on your own

  • Related Tertiary Qualifications in Inventory Management, Logistics and/or Supply chain management (highly regarded)
