About the role

BHP Iron Ore is one of the world's leading suppliers of iron ore. The Company's operations currently involve an integrated system of seven inland mines, more than 1,000 kilometres of rail and two separate port facilities; Nelson Point and Finucane Island at Port Hedland as part of our Western Australian Iron Ore (WAIO) business. Reporting to the Manager Engineering within the Engineering Standards (also referred to as the Governance and Technical Stewardship team) team, this is an exciting opportunity for a high performing professional to lead a diverse team in managing and ensuring compliance to Engineering and Technical standards for the site including structural, civil, mechanical, electrical and control systems.

Providing support and governance on site systems and strategies, as the Engineering Technical Superintendent, you will ensure robust change control and document management processes exist, and are followed, for the Operation.

Other Key Accountabilities will include,

  • Demonstrate leadership and instil an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development

  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of Critical Controls, ensure suitable controls are in place and verified through a planned audit process

  • Ensure deep technical engineering subject matter expertise and consultative support is provided to the Operation

About you

To be successful in this role you will have a Tertiary qualification in Engineering and bring a detailed knowledge of theories and practices related to Engineering Standards & Change Control. You will be a seasoned professional with a passion for guiding, developing and influencing teams and individual team members through mentoring and coaching.

A Minimum of C class manual drivers licence is a requirement for this role.

Location

With this role you have the choice of either or fly-in fly-out from Perth to the Newman Area on a 5:2 4:3 roster or being residentially based in Newman.The 7,000 strong population of Newman enjoys well-established town facilities including a newly revitalised town centre and sporting facilities. As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water courses and stunningly unique landscapes.
