Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified Step-Up Supervisor in the Kalgoorlie smelter maintenance function. The Step-Up Supervisor is a key role reporting to and assisting the Maintenance Supervisor in the Mobile Maintenance and Classified Plant workshop.

With previous experience in a leading hand / team leader position, ideally in a mineral processing environment with a solid understanding of classified fixed plant, as well as a background in mobile equipment would be advantageous.

As the Step-Up Supervisor, the role responsibilities will include assisting the with daily task allocation, rostering, reporting and general supervision activities, including filling in as the Supervisor from time to time. Key stakeholders include engineering, planning, project teams, and the other maintenance teams as well as our contracting partners and vendors.

You will be a team player, have great communication skills and above all, have a strong orientation to safe work practices.

Skills and Requirements

  • Current or previous experience in a similar leadership role

  • Trade qualified in a mechanical discipline

  • Solid history and knowledge in fixed plant maintenance in a heavy engineering/mining environment.

  • Sound problem diagnosing and solving skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Able to mentor, coach and guide the team

  • Computer literate with 1SAP experience or similar would be highly regarded

Nickel West Kalgoorlie

Kalgoorlie is the largest inland city in Western Australia and due to its central location is positioned at the heart of the Goldfields as a vibrant mining town and a major gateway to the Eastern States. Although fairly isolated, the City of Kalgoorlie/Boulder offers modern shopping facilities, a huge variety of sports, and schooling for all ages up to high school. There are contemporary housing options for all budgets, sporting clubs and leisure complexes of all descriptions. The Kalgoorlie Nickel Smelter receives nickel concentrate from our mining operations in Leinster and Mt Keith as well as from our Third Party Feed concentrator in Kambalda. Nickel West Kalgoorlie incorporates a flash furnace smelter, converters and an acid plant which has the capacity to produce up to 110,000 tonnes per annum of nickel matte.
