About the Opportunity

The Technology function within BHP is continually growing, and we are now seeking a Unified Communications (UC) Operations Lead for the APAC region.

Reporting directly into the Manager Unified Communications has responsibility for a team of staff and suppliers undertaking operational activities on the Unified Communications (UC) Infrastructure including Cisco Unified Call Manager, Voice Gateways, Conductors, Telepresence Servers, Jabber, WebEx, Spark, NICE Call Recording and Digital Signage platforms.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the UC Operations team located in Perth in the BHP Technology Remote Operations centre. This includes developing hiring plans, training plans, and staff rosters.

  • Ensure that Unified Communications infrastructure and key endpoints (CUCM, Conductor, TP Servers, TMS, voice gateways, IX5000’s, emergency phones) are monitored and that faults are automatically detected

  • Ensure that incidents are appropriately managed to minimise the MTTR

  • Ensure all ITIL service management processes are executed appropriately within UC

  • Ensure that UC related service requests are managed and executed in accordance with SLAs

  • Drive for continuous improvement by optimising and automating processes

  • Collaborate with UC Operations – Americas team and the Network Operations teams to ensure 24 x 7 coverage in a follow-the sun model

  • Manage 3rdparty service providers and telecoms circuit providers to ensure SLAs are met

  • Produce appropriate metrics and reports to measure the performance of Unified Communications operations

  • Collaborate and support all other Technology Operations teams to drive a reduction of MTTR across all systems

  • Establish Performance management meetings with the UC operations team and partake in broader Performance focused sessions run by other teams (e.g. Networks, TROC)

About you

To be successful you will need to have:

  • Technical Degree (STEM), which is mandatory for these roles.

  • Minimum Cisco Certified Network Professional – Collaboration or Voice. CCIE certified is highly desirable.

  • Background in operating & supporting large scale (100+ sites, 20000+ devices/users) mission critical unified communications environment, including Voice, Video Conferencing, Jabber, Spark and WebEx services

  • Broad understanding of unified communications technical concepts, including VoIP, SNR, hunt groups, conferencing, media control, SIP and H.323 protocols, QoS, etc.

  • Good understand of ITIL and related processes. ITIL v3 certification preferred

  • Experience of building & managing an operations team.

  • Experience of establishing and operating a Network Operations Centre preferred

  • Familiar with unified communications operational lifecycle and demands

  • Excellent analytical skills, especially troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis skills

  • Experience of creating recovery, test and implementation plans

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Process oriented service delivery mindset with a strong focus on continuous improvement
