These software and hardware technology delivery teams (called tribes) converge in the foundational digital capabilities of Software Engineering, Data Engineering, User Experience and Hardware Engineering.

We recognise that we require technical and cultural assistance to adopt and embed agile and user-centric ways of working within our teams.
To execute these goals, we need exceptional leadership for our technical experts in these tribes and we are looking for a highly skilled and experienced technical, Digital Development Manager (coach if you will) who will work with our delivery teams and tribe members to develop the people, embed the processes and culture we need to succeed. The tribes are already in place and scaling to a size where the Digital Development Manager role is urgently required.
What you will do
Reporting to the Head of Digital Strategy, this key role works with a wide variety of stakeholders both within BHP’s Technology team and wider organisation. You will:
Provide technical and cultural mentoring / coaching to the Delivery Leads, Tribes and their teams in the ongoing process of designing, building and growing the Digital capability and delivery
Codify and build the ways of working for BHPs digital tribes globally driving, understanding, acceptance and uptake
Mentor digital tribe members
Act as an escalation channel for technical and cultural issues / constraints
Engage with project stakeholders in Technology and the wider business areas to create a collaborative and connected delivery capability
Advocate and promote the development teams providing the fuel in the way of knowledge and guidance for their continuous improvement
What you will need/have
Strong multidisciplinary technical competence, skills and experience (Software, Hardware, Networks, Data, User Experience)
Extensive experience in agile software delivery
Exceptional mentoring and coaching skills challenging and supporting the various internal and business stakeholders
First-rate communications skills in order to articulate philosophies, principles and practices, and complex concepts effectively
Ability to empower others, be a servant leader, inspire and enthuse through example
Your current title may be Software Delivery Manager / Head of, Business Architect, Agile Technical Lead, Agile Coach or Technology Delivery Manager.
