The Senior Drilling Engineer will be part of the Drilling Team for the Australian Business Unit – West. The incumbent will support the design and execution of the Barossa development wells. This position is based in the Perth and reports to the Barossa Wells Supervisor. The key purpose of the role is to ensure the wells are designed and executed in a safe, innovative, cost effective, and environmentally responsible manner. Key Role and Responsibilities Responsible for engineering, planning and permitting aspects of all drilling related operations while complying will all COP policies and processes Specify equipment and services required in support of the operations Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets and AFE’s Utilize COP knowledge sharing, industry best practice and appropriate technology on well design Assess risks and develop appropriate contingency plans Coordinate contractors to ensure understanding of COP requirements and access to relevant technology Interface with the HSE Department and provide necessary input for the preparation of regulatory / permitting documents Able to take a lead role in performing Risk Assessments, Third-Party Contractor Audits, After-Action Reviews and Lessons Learned Sessions Manage Well Projects utilizing the Maxwell Process during Operations Planning and Execution Serve as a mentor to less experienced engineers Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate the following experience and qualifications: Required BSc Engineering tertiary qualification in relevant technical discipline Experienced drilling engineer with exposure to drilling engineering/operations including some offshore wells engineering/operations experience is required Must be able to pass and maintain offshore medical and safety training requirements as well as IWCF subsea supervisor level well control certification Preferred Experience with the complete well engineering/planning process up to and including preparing comprehensive operational procedures Experience with floating drilling operations/well design is highly desirable Excellent teamwork skills and excellent communication/ presentation skills are beneficial.
