About the role
This is an opportunity for you to bring your skills as an excellent communicator, working with structured processes to lead decision making across the entire supply chain. You will be responsible for working with Mines, Rail and Port to achieve the supply chain scheduling objectives over the short term time horizons. Working for Deviation Management in the Scheduling team means that you will be coordinating and optimising schedules first hand, to ensure that production across the system is maximised. If you are someone who enjoys driving change and problem solving then this could be the role for you!
You will be based in Perth, Western Australia, in the multi award winning office tower - ‘City Square’. You will have stunning river views from your modern open plan office, state of the art facilities including virtual whiteboards and video conferencing facilities, 550 bicycle racks with ample lockers, showers and change room amenities and a large outdoor terrace with barbecues. You will be working an even time day/night Sportsman’s roster.
In this role you will:
Provide leadership and supervision to a team of schedulers to sustain a positive work culture and to both optimise and deliver on our production targets.
Oversee and assist the Scheduling team with complex decisions by ensuring that variability in the supply chain is minimised.
Be the first point of escalation for the supply chain team and be able to work through abnormal scheduling decisions.
Correctly identify situations and decisions that require escalation and support from the Scheduling Superintendent.
Assist the department to drive continuous improvement in processes, systems and technology.
Coordinate the daily reporting to the business to provide insight (both looking forward and backwards).
Demonstrate an ability to develop, lead change and manage people in a diverse team
Apply the theory of constraints framework to the Iron Ore Supply Chain from Mine to Port to advise stakeholders on production related decisions
Ability to work within the continuous improvement cycle, identifying and using team resources to close out improvement projects and demonstrating the ability to learn and adapt from investigations and learnings
Ability to fully utilize computer based planning systems to produce optimal decisions, including the ability to understand and improve decision making logic
Ability to work in a high pressure environment
Diverse operational experience in a large mining company would be advantageous
