Reporting to Infrastructure and Services Superintendent in the Fixed Plant Maintenance team your duties will include:

  • Oversee, direct and coordinate allocated personnel to ensure all tasks are performed in a safe and efficient manner

  • Manage all required work assistance with breakdowns across our fixed plant, mining and mobile assets and respond according to priority

  • Ensure timely evaluation and scoping of work requests prior to approval for the work management planning process

  • Participate in the weekly pre-planning, planning and scheduling meetings and required shutdown meetings to ensure alignment and commitment of resources to the work schedule

  • Ensure safe execution of maintenance work as per the signed of schedule

  • Manage the planning and execution of unplanned work and the re-scheduling of the existing work orders as required

  • Maintain a knowledge and understanding of the costs of maintenance

  • Ensure data integrity by using the various established system and reporting inaccurate data

Skills and Experience

As the successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • Strong Maintenance Crane and lift planning industry background in a large scale minerals processing environment with a minimum of 5 years’ experience

  • Detailed knowledge of operating and maintaining mining equipment

  • Demonstrated strong practical experience in leading, coaching and mentoring employees to deliver on plan and building a competent, engaged and disciplined team

  • Strong stakeholder/customer engagement skills and the ability to build relationships across workgroups

  • RA Rigging Advanced;

  • CO Slewing Mobile Crane (>100t )

  • LF Forklift Truck

  • Scaffolding knowledge (desirable)

  • Cert IV in Frontline Management is desirable

  • Strong knowledge of WAHVA rules and regulations

  • Valid Australian HR class driver's license advantageous but minimum C class manual drivers licence is essential


You will be based at our new ‘Jimblebar’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out 8 days on, 6 days off roster. Jimblebar is the first Greenfield mine in over 40 years to be both developed and operated by BHP Billiton Iron Ore and is located 40kms North East of Newman, Western Australia. The outstanding facilities at the brand new FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, golf driving nets, outdoor cinema, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court; beach volleyball court, games room and TV lounge. All rooms at the village have access to 3G wireless internet and Skype, an ensuite bathroom, flat screen television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
