We have an exciting new position available in Melbourne for a qualified and experienced individual within our Australia and New Zealand (“ANZ”) Tax team in the Finance Division.
The ANZ Tax team is part of the Asia ex-Japan (“AEJ”) Tax team and undertakes a variety of activities including tax compliance work, managing tax audits, reviewing products and trades, establishing and monitoring transfer pricing policies, managing tax risk and assisting in the establishment of new business lines/ventures. We also assist in the structuring of proprietary investments by the firm as well as providing advice across the firm on tax related matters. The AEJ tax team has members throughout the Asia Pacific region. We work collaboratively within the region, and also with our colleagues in Europe and the US on a day to day basis. In this role, you will gain exposure to a broad range of tax issues, some of which have global impact, and also have the opportunity to gain a deep understanding of financial markets and the investment banking world.
How you will fulfil your potential
Dealing with tax compliance work including income tax, GST, duty and tax effect accounting for various GS entities doing business in Australia and New Zealand.
Dealing with tax audits together with other members of the Tax Department.
Dealing with day-to-day tax related questions from internal clients.
Being involved with tax advisory work for financial products / cross border transfer pricing issues / other firmwide projects.
Working closely with people in the different business divisions and Federation departments (e.g., Controllers, Corporate Treasury, and Legal).
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
3 to 5 years of Australian corporate tax compliance and advisory experience with a major financial services firm or a second tier / major accounting firm
Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting)
Qualified CPA or equivalent
High integrity and reliability
Enthusiastic about being challenged on a regular basis, to learn and to take responsibility
Strong control awareness and ability to take a global view on issues
Strong analytical skills & detail oriented approach to work
Ability to work and obtain results under pressure
Ability to use initiative to develop innovative solutions and suggestions
Ability to work effectively in a team
Excellent communication skills required
Fluent in English
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Knowledge of financial industry or financial products helpful
Tax experience with property funds
Strong tax effect accounting skills
