The Structural Group is a Hatch global practice providing structural engineering design expertise to Hatch's commodity-based business units. Our capability spans through the whole project lifecycle, comprising scoping, conceptual design, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, basic and detailed engineering, construction and project management.

Hatch is currently seeking anExperienced Structural Designerto join thePerthteam.

We are ideally seeking someone who is a team player, motivated and flexible. The successful candidate, under the supervision of the Lead Structural Engineer, will be required to work with other Designers to produce civil/structural 3D models and 2D drawings in accordance with Project requirements.

Key Responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to):

  • Producing and maintaining technical and engineering drawings using 3D CAD software

  • Performing conceptual layout work

  • Developing design details

  • Checking drawings prior to release

  • Ensuring coordination of work with designers and engineers of other disciplines

  • Performing clash detection of models with other discipline models

  • In conjunction with engineering staff, preparing design concepts for both internal and client review

  • In conjunction with engineering staff, producing detailed engineering drawings and documentation for identified and approved concepts/projects

  • Participation in formal engineering review processes

  • Verifying onsite condition and dimensions relating to existing facilities

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Engineering diploma or equivalent (civil/structural)

  • Excellent safety awareness

  • Demonstrated civil/structural design experience

  • Experience within a large project, multidisciplinary EPCM environment

  • Ability to design in a 3D environment

  • Experience with heavy industrial structures and their foundations

  • Knowledge of industry and/or regulatory standards, regulations and codes pertinent to the design and systems related to the Project

  • Understanding of other discipline requirements

  • Proficient in the use of MicroStation

  • Excellent communication, team work and interpersonal skills
