Amec Foster Wheeler Senior Electrical Engineer in Perth, Australia

Wood is seeking applications from experienced Senior Electrical Engineers to support the Kemerton Lithium project based in our Perth Office.

Albemarle Kemerton Plant, a greenfield world scale Lithium Hydroxide Monohydrate production plant to be located at the Kemerton Strategic Industrial Area approximately 160 km south of Perth, Western Australia, and 17 km north-east of the existing port town of Bunbury.

The Albemarle Kemerton Plant will initially comprise of three trains, each producing 20,000 tonnes per annum Lithium Hydroxide Monohydrate. First product target by 2020. Expansion to five trains will take the ultimate site production to 100,000 tpa by around 2025.

Wood has been appointed by Albemarle to implement the Albemarle Kemerton Plant.


  • Perform electrical engineering detail design calculations

  • Work with a capable team of engineers and designers to complete the project

  • Prepare high quality, technically correct specifications and datasheets for major equipment

  • Adhere to the project schedule

  • Review vendor documentation

  • Provide technical support to the onsite construction teams, projects department and estimating department

  • Integrate vendor information in detail design documents and drawings

  • Review the project 3D model and design drawings

  • Perform site inspections, functionality testing and commissioning documentation

  • Accountable for the quality of deliverables in line with the needs of the customer and regulatory authorities

  • Electrical Engineering Degree

  • Membership or eligibility for membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia

  • 7+ years’ experience in the resources industry. Gold process plant experience highly regarded.

  • Previous experience with ETAP highly regarded

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a small team and meet deadlines

  • Sound technical engineering knowledge

  • Ability to problem-solve effectively

  • Effective communication skills

  • Strong analytical, literacy and numerical skills

  • Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and engineering programs

  • Strong understanding of relevant Australian standards, International standards and the WA Mines Safety and Inspection regulations

  • Ability to travel to site if required
