Amec Foster Wheeler Technical Director Mining and Geology in Perth, Australia
Wood is currently looking to recruit a Technical Director Mining and Geology for our Perth Mining and Mineral business.
The main purpose of the role is to lead the winning and execution of mining and geology components of feasibility studies to ensure that Wood is able to offer our clients a “one stop shop” approach to feasibility studies.
Develop, implement and maintain strategies to deliver profitable mining and geology consulting services within Wood
Work with the consulting group in the Americas to create a global service offering
Maintain a high level of quality within the mining and geology group and meet international standards
Promote innovation and the use of leading edge technology in the mining and geological studies undertaken by the group
Contribute to mining and geology group’s success in securing business and maintaining profitability
Develop strategies, business plans/budgets and business development to establish and grow the mining and geology division into a profitable and successful consulting business with a diverse capability profile, a depth of skills and professional personnel and an enduring level of client and partner/associate loyalty that fits in with the Company’s overall strategy
Active marketing of mining and geology group capabilities in order to secure a broad, diverse and well-resourced client base
Client and project management
Technical and study work as required
Field assignments as necessary
Preparation of feasibility studies pertaining to geology and resource estimation, including the estimation and reporting of mineral resources and ore reserves in compliance with JORC 2012 Code and NI 43-101 standards
Relevant degree in mining engineering or geology from a recognised institution
Post-graduate qualifications in engineering or business administration highly desirable
20+ year’s mining related experience including mine operations and the provision of technical services
Professional association membership at Fellow or Member level (IMM, AusIMM etc.)
Competent Person status able to sign-off on mineral resource and/or ore reserve statements in accordance with the JORC Code and/or NI 43-101 Technical Reporting
Proven track record of leading and managing teams
Ability to think strategically
Highly developed interpersonal skills
Motivation and organisation skills
A strong network of mining industry contacts in Australia and the Asia Pacific region
