About the opportunity
Our gas and electricity clients are facing multi-faceted market conditions impacting their energy operations and networks. We partner with clients to help address growing demand for additional transmission path and distribution capacity, challenging regulatory requirements and replacing damaged or aging infrastructure.
We are growing our power business across Asia Pacific and we need talented Power Systems Engineers to undertake a range of projects for our clients. You’ll provide power systems planning, modelling, analysis and advice to help clients in the power generation, transmission, distribution, and industrial HV sectors.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Undertake power systems planning, modelling and analysis.
Provide advice to clients in the power generation, transmission, distribution and industrial HV sectors.
Take advantage of new developments and improvements under guidance, and manage projects with high degree of technical and/or integration complexity.
Serve as a technical specialist in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles and processes in the team
Track and contribute to industry developments – ensuring that Jacobs is applying the latest technical developments and compliance with the latest Electricity Industry Standards and Technical Rules.
Solve complex problems involving non-standard or innovative components with limited supervision.
Be able to relocate for short or medium term (1-3 months) assignments on local / International assignments (such as New Zealand, Australia or South East Asia). About you
Whether you’re an early career Electrical Engineer or already experienced in Power Systems, if you are a focused, driven professional who takes pride in their work and is looking for a challenge to work within a multi-disciplinary environment on complex projects then please apply.
Ideally you’ll have the following experience and skills:
Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (essential)
Eligible for membership with Engineers Australia
Experience with power system modelling
Experience with software programs DIgSILENT, CYME, PSS/E and PSCAD (desirable)
Experience in dynamic modelling, model development, generator and network behaviour, and quality-of-supply matters.
Understanding of Transmisson & Distribution (T&D) utility work practices (or equivalent).
Understanding of the National Energy Market generator connection process and generator performance standards
