About the opportunity

Our Water and Environment business is growing significantly and we are looking to recruit an experienced Urban / Environmental Planner, to support the performance and development of the Environmental Planning Assessment and Management practice in QLD. Based in South Brisbane and reporting to the Team Leader Environment & Spatial, you will work as part of the environmental planning group on a broad range of complex and challenging projects whilst supporting work winning activities, including the preparation of bids.

The role is to focus on supporting the current and forecast pipeline of work in this technical stream including:

  • Contribute to the successful performance of the Environmental Planning, Assessment and Management practice in Queensland through the provision of leadership, management and coordination of staff and business activities

  • Lead and work as part of multi-disciplinary teams to achieve successful project delivery

  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients externally and within the business to identify, pursue and win new work opportunities

  • Upskill and mentor junior staff

About you

To be considered for this role, you will have demonstrated experience in technical delivery of environmental and planning assessments of projects (Qld preferred). Whilst a broad project experience is desirable, experience delivering transport and defence projects is highly desirable. In addition, you will have the following skills/experience:

  • Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Planning or equivalent

  • Member or eligible for membership of the Planning Institute of Australia

  • Project management training/accreditation highly desirable

  • Preparing high quality technical reports on planning and environmental matters

  • Supporting project managers through a team orientated project delivery focus

  • Managing small to medium scale multi-disciplinary projects

  • Strong leadership skills including a strategic focus to lead the growth of an environmental and planning technical services practice

  • Exceptional business development skills and commercial acumen

  • Experience working with Defence, local / state government and major infrastructure projects is desirable

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Strong project and bid leadership and management skills

  • Excellent working knowledge of Queensland and Commonwealth planning and environmental legislation
