The Role

You will work as part of a close-knit development team following Scrum methodologies to create new product features and enhance existing code, whilst ensuring the product continues to meet high levels of reliability, maintainability, usability and performance.

This is an evolving role that will cover a wide range of tasks such as:

  • Designing, implementing, refactoring and testing code (C#), following best practices for maintainability, testability and performance

  • Implementing unit tests (C#, NUnit), developing test frameworks and associated automated test cases

  • Reviewing and debugging code to identify defects, performance bottlenecks or technical debt

  • Working closely with test engineers to guarantee suitable test coverage, identifying and executing manual tests if necessary

  • Participating in sprint planning meetings, daily stand-ups and sprint retrospectives

  • Working with team members and Product Owner to help create User Stories and define acceptance criteria

  • Documenting requirements analysis or design decisions

The Requirements

  • Experience in developing in the .Net framework, preferably using C# .NET (at least 2 years)

  • Strong design and implementation skills, working with a multi-disciplinary team

  • Ability to profile and diagnose performance and memory issues

  • Industry experience with software engineering best practices: object-oriented design and implementation, design patterns, SOLID principles, Agile and Extreme Programming methodologies

  • High numeracy skills, degree-educated in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Science

  • Comfortable working in a collaborative Agile/Scrum environment

  • Comfortable working in CI/CD environment with tools such as VSTS, GIT, Team City, Octopus Deploy

  • Passionate about new languages/frameworks and learning about new and emerging technologies

Other highly desirable, but not essential skills are :

  • Experience with front end technologies using Angular, HTML5, Bootstrap, ASP.NET and JavaScript/Typescript

  • Front end unit testing frameworks such as Jasmine and C# unit testing tools such as NUnit/XUnit or similar

  • Experience with Entity Framework

  • Experience with SQL server or other storage technologies

  • Visual Studio Team Services and Git,

  • UX design/implementation experience or knowledge of standards,

  • Experience in Azure and Cloud Technologies

  • Appreciation of current and emerging technologies along with their potential benefits and limitations

  • Ability to coordinate day-to-day development and bug fixing activities,

  • Passion for maths, statistics and complex algorithms.
